A relevant new pandemic-related “2020 Disrupted” research series has just been released by The Hackett Group.
Their newest research for procurement & supply chain is the COVID-19 poll results, which include the following highlights:
*Remote work is expected to increase by a factor of three once the crisis recedes.
*Supply risk management is a key concern for the C-suite, and 2/3 of all organizations are expanding visibility to tier-2 and tier-3 suppliers.
*Procurement and supply chain leaders are more urgently pursuing digital transformation, including enhanced mobile technologies and increased automation.
*Agility is key, as the pandemic has caused extreme demand shocks that require rapid response. Long-term, organizations expect to focus on surge capacity and the ability to quickly change network design and suppliers.
Researchers told SCMR that as companies transition to the “next normal” supply chain managers are focusing on three supply chain imperatives: “stabilize, build resilience across the network, and optimize for agility.”
